With less than ten per cent student getting enrolled for a lifelong 12-digit Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR ID)-under ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ initiative, the State Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed all the schools to conduct mega drive on December 9-10 to ensure maximum student coverage.

The DoE has asked schools to ensure that 9th and 10th day of every month is to observed as Mega APPAR Diwas’ till the time, cent per cent registration of students is achieved.

The new initiative aims to streamline academic records, track student progress and support students’ educational journeys. The APAAR ID system will enable the Education Department to track student progress and identify those who need additional support.

In a press statement issued, the department has said that schools are asked to observe December 9-10 as “Mega APAAR Diwas’ to achieve complete saturation of APPAR ID creation and validation with cent per cent coverage. Furthermore, the 9th and 10th of every month will be designated as Mega APAAR Diwas (in case of holidays, the subsequent working days shall be observed), it said.

“APAAR ID is a unique, lifelong 12-digit identifier designed to facilitate targeted interventions, improve school enrolments, and seamlessly manage academic records,” the department said.

DoE has said that during the drive, all schools will focus on updating student records on the UDISE portal and generating APAAR IDs. The department has made parental consent for registration mandatory.

The department has urged all parents and students to cooperate with their respective schools in completing the APAAR ID registration process. “The Department is committed to ensuring that all students in Goa benefit from this transformative initiative,” it said.

APAAR ID allows students to digitally store, manage, and access their academic credits, including degrees, diplomas, certificates, training details, and co-curricular accomplishments. This system will also allow students to access the DigiLocker ecosystem, where they can digitally store all their achievements, including exam results and holistic report cards. Students can use the credit score for higher education or employment purposes in the future.
