Encroachments cleared from pay-parking zone in Mapusa market

MAPUSA
The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has removed four stalls which were illegally set up by some vendors in the pay parking zone in Chanekar lane at the Mapusa market.

The MMC has notified the road behind Chanekar Lane as a pay parking zone for two-wheelers. However, the contract of pay-parking has ended and two-wheelers parked are not being charged any fees. Taking advantage of this, four vendors took over the place and encroached the area by setting their shops there.

The matter was then brought to the notice of the MMC Market Committee Chairperson Ashirvad Khorjuvekar. He immediately sent instructions to the MMC team and the four stalls were removed from the space and the goods were seized.

A public notice had been issued by the MMC directing these vendors to remove their goods from the encroached areas, warning them of strict action if they failed to do so.
