FAMILY STRUGGLES TO GET JUSTICE

OLD GOA

Pawar was released from police custody after two days as a complaint was registered under Section 325 IPC, which allowed him to walk free without applying for bail.

However, the accused who now faces murder charges has gone missing and till date, continues to elude the police.

The family of Joseph has been made to run from pillar to post to get justice, with Old Goa police only giving assurances that the accused would be arrested.

“My father lost his life in a mindless attack and now the accused person is absconding. It has been four weeks since the attack and a week since my father’s demise, we are awaiting justice even as police keep reassuring us that they will track him,” said the distraught younger daughter Leeann.

Added Caroline: “Our attacker fled from Goa and the police did nothing to stop him. It’s been a week now since the police have been promising to catch him. I await justice but the man is absconding,”

They have demanded that the Old Goa police immediately arrest the accused Pawar and give justice to the family.

When contacted, Old Goa police said the case is under investigation and attempts are being made to trace the whereabouts of the accused.
