Guirim Parish Priest Fr Anand Da Gama Pais passed away on Wednesday morning.
The mortal remains of the departed priest will be kept in the Immaculate Conception Church, Moira on June 18 from 9.30 am. The funeral ceremony will begin with the Eucharistic Celebration at 10.30 am, followed by burial rites.
Fr Anand, who hailed from Moira, was born on September 14, 1967 and did his basic education in St Xavier’s High School, Moira and St Britto’s High School, Mapusa. He later joined the Seminary of Our Lady, Saligao, followed by Std 11 and 12 at St Xavier’s Higher Secondary. He then joined Papal Seminary Pune where he did his Philosophy and Theology. He was ordained a diocesan priest on October 28, 1994.
During his priestly ministry, he served as assistant in the parishes of Loutolim, Chinchinim and Betalbatim, chaplain at Cansa-Tivim, chaplain and parish priest at Porvorim, as well as parish priest at Calvim and Guirim.
A multilingual, Fr Anand was fluent in English, Portuguese, Konkani, Hindi and Marathi. He was fond of reading, gardening, singing and listening to music.
