As the Goa Heritage Festival 2023 concluded on Sunday, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte claimed several Goans descended in Saligao village to be a part of the three-day-long festival that celebrated Goan heritage. The coastal village is usually on the tourists' favourite list.
“Festivals like the Goa Heritage Festival not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of Goa but also brought together people from different walks of life to celebrate and appreciate the traditions of the State. It was interesting to see how Goans came together in Saligao,” he said.
Hosted by the Department of Tourism, the event showcased Goa’s music, dance, cuisine, and traditions. The event, the department added, brought together Goans as well as tourists alike who got a taste of Goa’s richness.
Day two of the festival featured a semi-classical program called Bhangrale Goem, which showcased the Goan folk lifestyle, festivals, and culture in a musical format, performed by Purnanand Chari. The highlight, however, was Goa’s Nightingale, Lorna, a daughter of Saligao who performed for a huge audience. Several other events and artists performed at the show.
On the last day of the festival, the attendees watched two Goan films, 'Mog Ani Moipas' in Konkani and a Marathi film titled, 'Shyam Chi Aai' besides being a part of various other competitions and shows.
