Mapusa cops nab temple thief, recover mobile, shivlinga

In a swift detection the Mapusa Police nabbed a Hubli native for a theft at the Shree Vithal Rukmani Temple in Ansabhat reported on Thursday last and recovered the stolen cell phone besides a 30-gram silver Shivlinga.

The theft was reported to the Mapusa police by the temple priest Sunil Nayak who claimed that the incident took place around 6 pm at the temple on Thursday last.

According to Nayak the unknown person entered the temple premises and stole the MI-make mobile handset, besides the silver Shivlinga and a pendrive belonging to the temple.

According to Mapusa police, CCTV surveillance and technical analysis was conducted in the locality. with DySP Jivba Dalvi and Mapusa police inspector Paresh Naik personally involved at the site. The accused, Shrikant Pattan,  was intercepted based on clues provided by informants.

Meanwhile in another case reported from Sanquelim on Saturday, Bicholim police arrested 26-year-old Brendon Britto of Nerul who the police claimed has confessed to stealing a mobile and other items from a bag belonging to one Prasad Ajgaonkar at the Multipurpose hall in Sanquelim.
