Landslides continue to pose danger on NH66 at Malpe

Landslides continue to pose danger on NH66 at Malpe

PERNEM

Concerns have been raised over regular landslides from a roadside hillock at NH66 highway near the Malpe bypass.
Locals said large boulders along with heaps of soil have been falling down and have posed a serious threat to motorists.
“The road has not been opened fully for traffic, as construction work is going on at the roadside,” said Bahujan Samaj leader Umesh Talavanekar.
Blaming the contractor, Talvankar alleged that the contractor had not carried out work in a proper manner.
“The demands of locals have fallen on deaf ears. Service roads connecting the villages were important but instead of completing these service roads, the road-widening work has been undertaken by the contractor, making entry to villages difficult in the monsoon, with potholes and waterlogging on the roads. The landslide has totally blocked motorists from commuting on this road,” said Talvankar.
