PONDA
A man linked to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Naga Masjid in Curti on Tuesday morning.
Apart from the arrested PFI worker Mohommad Hanif Ahrar (42), the search is on for one more PFI worker.
Tuesday's raid was one of the 17 raids conducted by NIA officers across the country.
According to sources, Mohammad Hanif Ahrar was a PFI worker for the past few years and was living with his family in a rented apartment. He was given an appointment in the local Naga Masjid, but was terminated by the committee on account of some issues.
He was then looking after the affairs of Akhil Bharatiya Imam Sanghatana for the past few years. Currently, he was the general secretary of this organisation and was taken to different places in the country.
The Central government had banned all organisations linked to the PFI in September 2022. After that there were NIA raids at Vasco and Fatorda.
