Mapusa’s worst kept road gets some tar, thanx to King Momo!

The Carnival parade ensured that some patch work was done to the worst kept road in town.

Since the cavalcade of King Momo was supposed to traverse through the pothole-filled road in Mapusa, authorities got their act together and carried out patch work on the road just in time to ensure the floats winding through the route would not get inconvenienced.

And the fresh coat of tar did not go unnoticed.

Residents and netizens were quick to point out to the tar work being carried on the road which had made life difficult to motorists using the pitiable stretch.

“Finally, we got some relief @king momo. The patch work of the road, however small it may be, is a welcome consolation from the rough ride we have been enduring for the past several months if not years. Thank you, King Momo, if only your reign remained a little longer…” said Laura D’Sa, a resident of Angod, Mapusa, who often uses the worn-out stretch.

“The carnival parade ensured what our pompous politicians couldn’t achieve for years. The road was in a very bad state and even little patch work goes a long way for those who use the road,” said Reshma Raut, who regularly travels by the stretch.

And politicians were not far behind.

“The potholes on carnival parade path at #Mapusa have finally got much deserved attention and patches. On behalf of people of Mapusa a BIG thank you to #KINGMOMO, #vivacarnival,” said Rahul Mhambre, former State chief of Aam Aadmi Party.

The King Momo entourage wound its way through the streets regailing the enthusiastic crowd after it was flagged off by Deputy Speaker and Mapusa MLA, Joshua D’Souza.

Hundreds of revellers lined up along the road from Mapusa Church leading up to the bus-stand to watch the colourful floats.

After winding its way through the streets, the floats finally converged at the open space near the Bodgeshwar Temple. Prizes for the floats were expected to be announced later in the night.
