Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has assured to look into the complaint that the MMC sopo contractor has charged for vehicle parking outside the SGPDA market.
The Chief Officer, however, pointed out that the sopo contactor is authorised to collect fees from any vehicle bringing goods or selling goods on vehicles.
The sopo contractor has denied having collected any fee on vehicles parked outside the wholesale fish market, saying that fees were levied as per the Municipality notified rates on vendors and vehicles selling goods.
When the news doing the rounds on the social media was brought to the notice of the MMC Chief Officer, Agnelo appealed to the person to lodge an written complaint to him on Monday, assuring to conduct an inquiry into the matter. “The MMC sopo contactor cannot levy parking fees. He, however, has the right to levy fees on vehicles unloading or selling goods,” the CO said.
