The 33rd convention of the All India Konkani Parishad will be inaugurated at Ravindra Bhavan Margao on October 26 at 9.30 am in the presence of noted linguist Dr Ganesh Devi as well as Nandgopal Shenoy, president of Konkani Bhas Ani Saunskruti Pratisthan.
The two-day conference will conclude on October 27 at 3.30 pm in the presence of noted Goan industrialist Auduth Timblo.
Sahitya Akademi awardees Prakash Paryenkar, Sunetra Jog, Harsha Shetye and Advait Salgaonkar will be felicitated on the occasion. Amelia Dias, Fr Jayam Cota and Suhas Dalas will be honoured for their contribution towards the spread of Konkani language, literature and culture.
A symposium on ‘National Education Policy and Konkani language “ Challenges and Solutions’ will be chaired by Narayan Desai, Pandurang Nadkarni, Juse Rebello, S Sudheesh Shenoy, Kasturi Mohan Pai and Ashwini Kulkarni.
Tukaram Shet, Kumud Naik, Uday Gaonkar, Nilba Khandekar, Jose Laurence, Purnanand Chari, Guadalup Dias, Ramnath Gawade, Vasant Sawant, Sanjay Talwadkar, Anthony Menezes, Ramanand Prabhu, Titus Noronha, Valli Quadrush, Rozario Pinto, Sonia Shirsat and Khangendra Hegde will participate in literary presentation.
A symposium on ‘Importance of Official Language in Government and Public Administration’ will be chaired by Prakash Vazrikar, Sandesh Prabhudesai, Anil Sawant and Yugank Naik. Another symposium will be on ‘Linguist Minorities “ Status and Future’ in the black box with the participation of William Pais, Krishnakumar K S, Luis Rodrigues, Rakesh Menezes, Usha Rane and Alfie Montero. This will be followed by a visit to Colva beach.
On Sunday, October 27 a symposium on ‘The support of technology to the Konkani language’ will be held by Guru Baliga, Palash Agni, Ratnamala Divkar, Steni Bela and Sanjay Rajagopal. Another symposium ‘Problems with Konkani identity and existence: Way forward’ will be chaired by Kiran Budkule, Prakash Naik, Chandrababu Shetty, Benita Dias, Henry Mendonsa, Sefafino Cota and Sandesh Bandekar.
Thereafter, Jayesh Raut, Soyru Velip, Subhash Jan, Indrajit Ghule, Balkrishna Mallya, Vijaykumar Pai, Jayaprabhu Kambli, Wilson Katil, Akruti Naik, Jenet Vaz, Salomi Miyapadavu, Prasad Pangam, Sangita Naik, Urvashi Naik, Sanjay Komarpant, Hrishikesh Kadam, Gorakh Shirsat, Manoj Narendra Kamat, Suveda Palkar, Devidas Gaonkar and Vrushali Kelekar will present their literary works before passing the resolution. The closing ceremony will be held in the presence of industrialist Auduth Timblo.
