Director General of Police Alok Kumar on Thursday said the inquiry into cash-for-jobs accused Pooja Naik’s allegations against a minister and two government functionaries is nearing completion, and no claims made by her have been substantiated so far.
Responding to media queries, DGP said that police have examined all material placed on record. “Once the inquiry concludes, we will definitely give you the information,” he said.
The Crime Branch recently traced the mobile phone that Naik had claimed contained evidence of bribery involving the trio. Sources said the device was found in Uttar Pradesh, where Naik had allegedly sold it, before it was recovered and brought back to Goa for further examination. The police stressed that the phone was never lost, contrary to Naik’s earlier claims.
The Goan had earlier this month reported CB maintained that no evidence emerged to support Naik’s accusations.
Naik had alleged that a minister and two government functionaries were beneficiaries of Rs 17.68 crore bribes collected from 613 aspirants. She had claimed that crucial evidence was stored in one of two mobile phones seized following her arrest last year.
