Parra hit-and-run case accused arrested

The alleged absconder two-wheeler rider involved in the Parra-Saligao hit-and-run case at Char Rasta junction has been arrested by the Mapusa police on Thursday. The alleged accused is Gagan Gajanan Kakatikar, 20, a resident of Monteguirim, Bardez.
The accident that happened on Wednesday morning at around 7 am had killed two-wheeler rider Satpurush Vasudev Salgaonkar, a 42-year-old resident from Talivada Cansa Tivim. After the accident, the suspect had fled from the scene with his pillion rider.
The police found out the number of the two-wheeler from the CCTV footage from the accident site and registered an offence against the unknown two-wheeler rider based on the complaint filed by police inspector Keshav Naik.
Late Thursday evening the police nabbed the alleged accused two-wheeler rider and registered an offence against him under sections 279, 337, 304 and Motor Vehicle Act Section 134 (A), (B) and arrested him.
Further investigation is being done by deputy police inspector Viraj Korgaonkar under the supervision of PI Paresh Naik.
