Beleaguered residents of Ramnagri on Thursday descended at the Curtorim Primary Health Centre to make a plea to the Health officer not to disconnect their water supply over the sewage disposal in the drains.
With the residents receiving no positive response from the health authorities, they have decided to seek legal advice on how to go about the matter, with the Health Centre issuing directions to the PWD to disconnect water to the households.
A day after the residents laid a siege at the office of the PWD Assistant engineer, after the department disconnected water connections of the eight commercial establishments in the housing colony, the residents made their presence felt at the Curtorim health centre with a plea to the authorities not to go ahead with the water disconnection.
Sources pointed out that the health authorities are believed to have declined to withdraw the directions issued to the PWD, water supply to disconnect the water supply. Given the situation, the residents are believed to have decided to seek legal advice before knocking on the doors of the judiciary for justice.
The residents have claimed that work on connecting the Ramnagiri housing colony to the underground sewerage line, saying the sewage issue will be resolved once the line is commissioned by Sewerage Infrastructure Development Corporation of Goa Ltd (SIDCGL).
