The District Magistrate (North Goa) Sneha Gitte has issued a prohibitory order in view of the Budget Session of Goa Assembly slated from Friday, February 2.
The order, in force till the end of the session on February 10, has banned gathering of five or more persons and taking out or organizing of processions, the carrying of firearms or weapons of offenses such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears, the use of loudspeakers, the shouting of slogans and burning of fire in any public place, street, road, square, thoroughfare, by-lane or in any open space within the radius of 500 meters around the Assembly Complex at Porvorim and the area under the jurisdiction of Panaji Police Station.
Public servants on duty and bonafide marriage or funeral processions or any special occasion or occasions which in the opinion of the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrates, are genuine and for which prior permission in writing has/have been obtained, are exempted from the order.
The Goa Police, meanwhile, has also made separate arrangements for vehicular movement and security during the session. “Minister and VVIPs including their personal and security staff, Legislature staff and Government Secretariat staff shall enter from either the Main Gate of the Assembly Complex or from the Rear Gate (Kids Kingdom School Road), Whereas Visitors/Press/Media/ School Students and Teachers shall enter from the Rear Gate only. Entry passes will be issued at the Secretariat Block entrance before entering the Assembly building,” it says.
