The Congress on Monday asked the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane to walk his talk and take immediate action against those involved in the RP 2021 scam.
The grand old party has also called for action against conversion of large tracts of land in Morjim which has been carried out by ignoring the law of the land.
“We are aware that TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane makes a statement only after studying the matter in detail. We want the minister to keep his word and take immediate action against those involved in the RP 2021 scam, especially the TCP officers who have felicitated the conversion of land,” said Sanjay Barde, spokesman of Congress.
The Congress spokesman was addressing the media along with North Goa Congress District President, Virendra Shirodkar, Calangute Congress Block President, Lourence Silveira and others.
TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane recently stated that around 6 crore sq. mtrs of land has been converted into settlement while preparing the RP 2021 and vowed action against those involved in the scam including the TCP officials.
Speaking further, Barde informed that nearly around 62,000 sq mtrs of land has been converted into settlement on a hill in Morjim in Mandrem constituency.
“This has been clandestinely passed by some TCP officials with scant regard to laws to benefit some Delhi land sharks,” the Congress spokesman said and urged the TCP minister to investigate the matter and take action against the concerned official.
He said, in the past, the TCP Minister had made several such statements of acting against illegalities but failed to take the matter to its logical end.
Calangute Congress Block President, Lourence Silveira stated that nearly a year back, Rane had opened the Calangute ODP and alleged that a lot of illegalities had crept into the development plan of the coastal village and vowed to correct the discrepancies in it.
“The people of Calangute were very happy that they would get justice. But till today no action has happened. We want to alert our Goans that these ministers say one thing and do something else,” Silveira said.
