Residents of Agarwada-Chopdem have asked the panchayat to initiate action against those panchayats which received permission but were yet to fulfil the conditions stipulated during construction.
The locals demanded that though these projects were given permission for construction, the work should be stopped and reviewed if the parties concerned have not followed the regulations.
The Gram Sabha which began at 10.30 am and went right up to 2.30 pm, was chaired by Sarpanch Anthony Fernandes and convened at the mini theatre of the Agarwada-Chopdem Panchayat.
Others present included Deputy Sarpanch Shilpa Sharad Naik, Sangita Naik, Rupali Lingudkar, Bhagirath Gaonkar, Sachin Raut, Hemant Chopdekar and Dasharath Parab.
Residents brought to the notice of the panchayat that the traditional access was blocked while constructing one project.
They also alleged that another project at Chopdem is being built after encroaching on government land, and they demanded a site inspection and a complaint to be made to the PWD. The Sarpanch assured to take appropriate action in the matter.
They also claimed that a project that has been constructed on the land which was a traditional salt pan.
Residents also complained of inconvenience as roads have been dug up to lay underground cables and they demanded tarring of roads before the monsoons.
Other issues raised at the Gram Sabha included keeping the service road between Agarwada and Mandre open for only two-wheelers, action against the illegal sand mining under the Chopdem bridge and the garbage project.
