Former Congress State president Girish Chodankar on Saturday voiced the demand that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant sack from his cabinet the minister allegedly involved in a land scam to ensure that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on land grab can work without any pressure. In a statement, Chodankar said: "Constitution of SIT to investigate Illegal Land grabbing using forged documents is a welcome step taken by the government. When I had raised the issue, I was mocked by people in power; even my effigy was burnt.”
He questioned how the SIT would do justice to the cause when a cabinet minister is involved in grabbing land.
The former GPCC president however refrained from naming the minister.
“If Goa CM is serious, he should drop the Minister to give a free hand to SIT & confidence to land losers to come forward and file complaints before SIT,” Chodankar said, adding that government officials complicit in the scam should be sent on forced leave.
