Sohail Furtado said the group had organized the clean-up on their own without assistance from any group, Panchayat or Sarpanch. 展e along with our friend Savio Furtado had all descended at Zalor a little before 10 am on Sunday and found it in a very sad state. We immediately started our work of cleaning the beach, he said.

Referring to the claims made by Carmona Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge that he and local villagers had initiated a drive to get the beach cleaned-up of the waste, the youngsters claimed that Sarpanch Allywn refused to be of any help.

Meanwhile, Sarpanch Allwyn said he had told the youngsters it would take time for the panchayat to organise the logistics for the operation. He, however, said that he and local villagers came back on the beach at 2.30 pm to clear the waste on the beach.
