Residents in Salvador do Mundo are irked over a sudden discontinuation in the KTC bus service from Mapusa to Salvador do Mundo via Socorro.
Speaking to The Goan, locals said the bus service was stopped on March 7 and it has not been resumed so far.
“Several students, office-goers and public commute between Salvador do Mundo and Mapusa on a regular basis. The main KTC bus depot is located in Salvador do Mundo, but there is no benefit whatsoever for residents of Salvador do Mundo,” complained a resident.
“After repeated requests from residents, the KTC introduced a bus service from December 7, 2021. The KTC bus would make three trips per day, in the morning afternoon and evening. However, the bus service was suddenly discontinued from March 7, much to everyone’s surprise,” the resident added.
When we contacted KTC officials, they claimed that the KTC bus suffered a breakdown and they did not have a spare bus as replacement. "This is a silly and unacceptable justification, ” the resident said.
“For nearly two weeks, students and office-goers are forced to walk right up to Porvorim to catch a bus for Mapusa. Authorities must be sensitive to hardships faced by people and restore the KTC bus service at the earliest,” the resident added.
