A 21-year-old bike rider lost her life in a head-on collision involving an 18-year-old motorcycle rider, on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred when Omkar Aroskar, a resident of Pillar, was riding his Splendor bike towards Siridao market in a reckless and negligent manner.
According to the details shared by the Agassaim police inspector Vikram Naik, Aroskar, while on the road leading towards Siridao market, veered into the wrong lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Honda Activa scooter whose rider was identified as Sanjana Sawant, a resident of Siridao. She succumbed to her injuries while her sister Akshata, aged 17, who was the pillion rider on the scooter, sustained injuries.
Both the accused rider and the injured pillion rider are undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital.
The rider has been booked for causing death by negligence under section 304-A of IPC, rash driving under section 279 IPC, and causing hurt by an act of endangering life under section 337 IPC.
