Porvorim Police have arrested Mohammad Suhail of Uttar Pradesh but residing at Merces on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl from Porvorim.
The father of the victim girl filed a complaint with the Porvorim police on Thursday accusing Suhail of having sexually assaulted his daughter at Merces. Porvorim police conducted the investigation and arrested the accused under Section 363 and 376 IPC and Section 8 (2) of the Children Act.
Police said the accused, Mohammad Suhail, was working in a shop located near the house of the girl. He had befriended the girl about 15 days ago. On Thursday afternoon, Suhail is alleged to have taken the girl to his residence at Merces and sexually assaulted her.
When the parents came to know about the incident from their daughter, they filed a complaint with the Porvorim police station and police arrested the accused. He was later produced before the Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class for remand. PSI Loren Siqueira is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Ditendra Naik.
