The decision of converting Old Goa Medical College building at Ribandar into a full-fledged community health centre, having a 30-bedded capacity, is still under consideration of the government.
The Health Minister in the Assembly said that the matter is under examination of the government.
Ribandar Health Care Committee has demanded that the Chief Minister grant a full-fledged health centre at this old Medical College building. The Chief Minister has assured the delegation that a 24x7 health care facility would be set up at Ribandar.
Ribandar Health Care Committee has argued that the health care facility will cater to the needs of Ribandar and surrounding areas like Chorao, Old Goa, Corlim, Merces and Chimbel and also help in reducing patient load at Goa Medical College at Bambolim.
However, the health ministry has not taken any final decision on it but the matter is still under examination.
