Building of bypass road must ensure free flow of water

A massive project is underway from Seraulim/Mungul to Benaulim, the construction of a bypass road through water bodies and beyond. On both sides of this road there will be no free movement for the flow of rain or flood waters and there is every chance of massive flooding taking place  in all low-lying and surroundings areas. Improper and haphazard planning with earth filling is going on indiscriminately without checking the slope gradient and other  crucial  factors. Villagers in the vicinity have been demanding roads on stilts so that there is free flow of water through the whole system. Due processes of road, pillars, bridge alignment are hopefully taken into account by qualified personnel like PWD, navigation and allied engineering staff who should be consulted so that the quality of works are not compromised. There is a railway track running parallel to this new road, and the swathes of land lodged in between the two contain residential houses, which could be potential areas for flooding in future.
