The Goa government does not have independent pay and pension rules for its employees. It follows the Central government rules.
Now, when the Centre approved the benefit of re-fixation of pension based on notional fixation of pay and the payment of differential dues, Goa government ought to have given the benefit to its pensioners.
Say what you may, the previous CM was not a friend of pensioners. It was the present CM who got the file pulled out and released the benefit to pensioners.
However, the arrears of 3 years from 2016 to 2018 were denied to them. Last year, the government withheld two instalments of dearness relief that were due.
This year too, they accepted the withholding of relief that was due in January. Whether the govt will pay the withheld dues after July 21 as assured, only time will tell.
Sadly, pensioners have no active forum to take up their case. None of the 40 MLAs ever think of them, leave alone speaking for them.
In these circumstances, pensioners need to realise that only the child that cries gets milk. Silence doesn't pay.
