Illegal structures should not be permitted to be built

Two days back JCB was back on the road in North Goa to demolish shops and sheds on roadside at Karaswada, Mapusa. According to the municipality,  notices were issued to shop owners on roadside extension and illegal structures built. However municipality with police personnel and electricity department took initiative to pull down shops along roadside in the name of road widening.  Some shops had been given on rent and some owners acquired stay order from the court against demolition but those have been sealed. Those who have been operating demolished shops have lost goods and products in shop but some could save their items from damage. The action taken is not wrong but the way it's done is not correct . Those who bought stay order have saved their assets and items but those who could not get stay had to face axe on their items and products stored in shops. Illegal structures should be stopped before construction and not axed after their completion which is loss to both municipality and the owner. Action should be taken during the initial stage of construction and not later.
