The road widening is happening in Siolim MDR-6, and trees have been cut to pave the way for the widening. At the SFX School in Bamon Vaddo, the uprooting of the roots of the cut tree was being done today at 3 pm with the JCB. The operator has damaged the PWD water pipeline, and now at 7 pm, there is no one to stop the water leakage.
Is this not the responsibility of the contractor and PWD to see that such leakages are immediately stopped? The PWD technician should have been around. Lakhs of treated water are now going to be wasted. Today is Saturday, and till Monday morning, no one from the department is going to attend.
The PWD should claim money from the contractor for causing the damage. If not, I will be forced to file a complaint in the consumer court to hold someone responsible for such damage and water pipeline wastage. I hope the local MLA is on the field to check and hold the contractor responsible. If the electricity department can claim damages from accident poles, why should the PWD not claim damages from the contractor?
