The precious loss of innocent Remedia Mary Albuquerque’s life, a tragedy that no family can bear, along with the injury of two other staff members, was an act of criminal negligence by the drunk culprit. I have personally encountered many such drunk tourists on our state roads during my drives, which could lead to fatal accidents.
The Goa traffic police work tirelessly every day, even in hot weather conditions, doing an excellent job on the roads. They should conduct drug and alcohol tests on all tourists, even during the early morning hours, to prevent such incidents from occurring. This is a criminal act, and the government of Goa should show no mercy in prosecuting and sentencing the responsible party to a lifetime in prison.
These individuals are often well-connected and have resources to secure their release, making them potential threats on the road. Before we lose more of our loved ones, strict measures should be taken. Additionally, the foreigner lady involved should be investigated for her motives.
