Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai's reported call for adopting robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-aided farming presents an opportunity to present agriculture as a modern, profitable, and technology-driven profession.

AI-aided farming involves using Artificial Intelligence, robotics, sensors, drones, satellite imagery, and data analytics to improve farming decisions and operations.

Farmers receive real-time information about soil conditions, weather, crop health, irrigation needs, pest infestations, and nutrient deficiencies. Sensors placed in fields can continuously monitor soil moisture.

AI systems analyze the data and automatically recommend or activate irrigation only when required. Drones equipped with cameras can detect diseases or pest attacks long before they become visible to the human eye.

AI-based weather forecasting can help farmers decide the best time for sowing and harvesting, reducing crop losses caused by unpredictable weather.

Goa's growing interest in organic farming can also benefit. For a state like Goa, where farm labour shortages are common, robotics can significantly improve productivity. If implemented thoughtfully, AI-aided farming can help revive Goa's agricultural heritage while creating a new generation of tech-savvy farmers.
