CM Pramod Sawant whilst speaking at a recent function at Narve, Bicholim has reportedly promised to rebuild a magnificent temple at Divar island of Shri Dev Saptkoteshwar as a memorial for 1000 temples destroyed during Portuguese rule to somehow distract Goans from the ongoing Mhadei issue in Goa. Why is Sawant so much hell-bent on promoting enemity between Goans on religious lines by selectively talking of constructing only temples in the state and turning Goa into another UP? Aren't there presently enough temples in every nook and corner of Goa?
I think that CM Sawant should first talk of improving the living condition of Goans, i.e. provide them with some good basic facilities like free education, uninterrupted electricity/water supply at a cheaper rate, improve the public transport system and give them decent roads throughout the State.
Sawant should also dare to talk of constructing modern hospitals in all the villages on top priority basis to provide free medical facilities for all Goans (irrespective of caste, creed and religion) rather working for his own long-term political survival in Goa.
