It is a proud moment for Goa as it is celebrating its 60th Liberation Day anniversary. However, those fighting to save the State's natural cover feel unsafe because of cases being slapped against them. On Liberation Day some youth who wanted to keep before the president the current reality of the State were detained. Freedom fighters fought to free us from the Portuguese rule and after 60 years we are fighting with our own government to save Goa. Today no one is feeling secure. Our elders told us that during the Portuguese rule we could keep our doors open at night and go to sleep without any fear and no one would dare enter. But times have changed and we are left to face the bitter reality. Our elected representatives are looking at their own political and personal interests and we are left to fend for ourselves. The government and police are not listening to the voices of the people. I salute all the youth, young and old who are fighting to protect our health, safety and environment. God bless Goa.
