Govt must take over private hospitals

Govt must take over private hospitals

The State government has recently  capped rates for treatment of Covid-19 in all the private hospitals of Goa.

What does this government really think about Goans? That they are big-shots or "Bhatkaars" (landlords) having huge properties, earning lakhs as salaries and having crores of rupees as fixed deposits? Today, even some of the highly reputed hotels are not charging more than Rs 5,000 per night for all visiting tourists but the government wants Goans to get themselves admitted in all the private hospitals by spending above Rs 12,000 per day for. Doesn't this sound like a big joke?

Secondly, if the GMC and other government hospitals are really providing the best of facilities, why politicians are rushing to private hospitals for treatment?

I therefore strongly feel that if the government of the day really wants to show that it really cares for the lives of Goans then it should immediately decide to take over the private hospitals and treat all Covid-19 patients at subsidised rates for the betterment of Goa. Can the government of the day take up such a challenge and really do it?
