The villagers of Loliem-Polem should be congratulated for unanimously passing a resolution to reject the government's ambitious plan to set up a Film City in their village on comunidade land at Bhagwati Plateau during their gram sabha meeting on Sunday and for vowing to conserve the above plateau & also to take the fight against the proposal to the highest courts. Well, politicians from our respective governments have brought these projects not to help Goans in terms of employment but to bring in hordes of neighbouring outsiders into the state under some pretext or the other and to slowly create their own vote banks in different parts of Goa. Haven't politicians from our respective governments turned villages of Tivim, Verna, Madkai, Pilerne and surrounding areas (which includes Saligao) into migrant-dominated slums by setting up peanut paying industries at the above places in the name of providing long-term employment for our locals? Anyway, three cheers to the villagers of Loliem-Polem for forcing their panchayat to take the above matter at the gram sabha on top priority basis and for rejecting the government's plan to set up a Film City in Loliem.
