Of devotion, donation and defalcation

Wonder why the Hindus are not outraged by the theft of thousands of crores in donations at the Ram Mandir? The answer is simple, they always knew that this was happening, not only at Ayodhya but across all temples in India where devotees offer money, gold and other valuables. They have been indoctrinated that the sin of stealing is between God and the thief and they have done their duty of donating to their deity in the hope of achieving salvation. Hindus are aware that it is the temple trustees and priests that pilfer their offerings. For the devotee, both are acceptable, as the end use has nothing to do with their devotion or benefaction. This state of affairs applies to almost all religions that require contributions from their flock to  function, expand, fund themselves and those who run the religion juggernaut. It is no wonder that the Vatican is one of the richest countries in the world and the Saudi kings rake in moolah from Haj, but in both cases the management spends billions to facilitate smooth functioning of the establishment, welfare of the poor and propagation of their tenets.
