The BJP government in Goa is strengthening its vote bank through the ‘Mhajo Flat’ scheme, which primarily benefits outsiders who have settled illegally in the state over many years. True Niz Goenkars do not seek houses but desire peace and preservation of their ancestral villages and panchayat areas where they were born and raised. The ‘Amche Ghar’ scheme appears aimed at turning non-Goans into Goans. However, outsiders cannot replace Niz Goenkars because they lack a genuine connection to Goa’s culture, heritage, environment, and language. Social media and news channels frequently show our MLAs and ministers embracing outsiders, dancing with them at functions, and posing with ‘lamanis’ who are often their heroines. These politicians seem willing to cross all limits—political and moral—just to retain power, even resorting to the most undignified acts. Many outsiders, driven by greed, exploit government schemes and rely on false documents, often with the backing of politicians involved in vote bank politics. This undermines the integrity of our society and threatens Goan identity.
