Relocate key offices to premises in Margao

Despite the availability of ample government-owned space within Margao city, the public continues to face unnecessary hardship due to the poor utilisation of existing infrastructure. The former multi-storeyed Mamlatdar building and the Mathany Saldanha Complex remain largely vacant or grossly underutilised, while several essential government offices continue to function from inconvenient locations. The Water Supply Department sub-office, catering to residents of Margao and Nuvem, still operates from its old premises on the uphill road to Monte Dongor. Similarly, the main office dealing with sewage connections is located in Fatorda. Both offices are difficult to access, especially as regular public transport is unavailable. Citizens are forced to rely on private vehicles, hire rickshaws, or walk long distances in harsh weather, often without any assurance that their work will be completed in a single visit. Even today, handwritten receipts are issued despite the digital era. The government should relocate these offices to available premises within the city, ensuring easier access and improved public service. It is hoped the concerned Minister will take cognisance of this long-pending issue and act promptly in the larger public interest.
