China first gives the world the Coronavirus and then expects other countries to buy their vaccine. It is learnt that China has made it mandatory for people coming from India and 19 more nations to get Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccines if they want to travel to that country.
Since there are no Chinese-made vaccines available in India, the announcement will affect thousands of students, most of whom are medical students, besides hundreds of professionals working in China and who are stuck in India due to the Coronavirus travel restrictions. The Chinese Embassy has also not specified how Indians can access the Chinese-made vaccines in India. What if those Indians planning to travel to China have already taken the vaccine available in the country? Will another dose of the Chinese vaccine be made mandatory by China for travelling to that country? Such notices of requirement of vaccination by Chinese-made vaccines have reportedly been put up by Chinese embassies in 20 countries. What is the rationale of the regulation to have Chinese vaccines in countries where the Chinese vaccine is not available? Is this a sinister design by China to sell its vaccines to other countries across the globe? Is the efficacy and safety of a Chinese vaccine more than that provided by other nations? If other countries too had followed the Chinese “model” there would be absolute chaos and all travel plans could go haywire.
