Why do power outages continue to haunt people?

This is with reference to the news report ' Govt slams door on private players in power network' (TGE, July 6).  A golden opportunity has been lost with the  refusal by  the Goa government to allow Tata Power to take over Goa's power distribution networks. If according to the Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, crores of rupees have been spent on massive power infrastructure to upgrade the state's power distribution networks, then how is it that power outages and breakdowns continue to haunt the people of Goa with around 2,000 power outages in three months, averaging around 23 per day, according to the latest department reports. Yet, we refuse a helping hand from a recognised giant power distribution company like Tatas to manage our power distribution networks. Do we want the people to continue suffering?
