The monsoon session of Goa assembly started on Monday saw heated arguments on third day. The first two days of question hour were swept away like the rains that lashed the Goan roads with heavy downpour. The third day of session witnessed heated arguments between opposition and tourism minister. The tourism department has spent almost Rs 34 cr on promoting Goa abroad on roadshows. The opposition demanded better infrastructure in the state rather then spending huge amount on national and international promotion. We need better infrastructure at beaches and other areas. If we want quality tourists to visit the state we have to promote our culture and not just sand, sea and scenic beauty. There should be clean toilets which can be used . Another issue was of stray dogs. Goa can see many stray dogs on streets and some of them even bite people and run after scooters and bikes and sometimes the rider loses balance and falls down. There needs to be control on stray dog menace by animal husbandry department along with NGOs who take care of dogs. The chief minister has assured the house about solution after a meeting with respective departments.
