The increase in crime rate in Goa is due to bad policing by the police officers in the State. The Goan common man who has no influence in a case is treated shabbily without any respect even if he or she is innocent but on the other hand the accused is treated with respect for the simple reason that he has given some bribe and no FIR is registered even if the complainant requests the officers to do so.
It may also be because if the crime is registered it will show an increase in crime rate, so in order to show the crime rate down in Goa some officers don't register police complaints. This makes a mockery of law enforcing agencies and gives a licence to the accused especially migrants to do more crimes as they are aware they will go scot free as they feel that the police officers are in their pocket. If we have sincere and honest police officers, they can do wonders to bring down crime rate to a great extent. They could begin by supporting the common man who comes with a genuine case and then undertake a thorough investigation of the same.
