After much delay, the Chairperson, Collector ( North) convened a meeting of the North Goa District Consumer Protection Council of the many Government departmental heads and members of the consumer forums for a meeting on April 24 at 11am in the Conference Hall, 2nd floor, Secretariat, Porvorim. The Collector, North did not come for the meeting and kept all others waiting till 12 noon when we were informed that the Collector cannot attend. I presume the Member /secretary of the District Consumer Protection Council North Goa , Asst Director, Civil Supplies & Consumer affairs had planned this programme well in advance. It's sad the government official did not realise that the working people have to apply for leave, postpone their day's work or send their substitute to respect the chair who has called for the meeting. It's time we value the commitment of other people and their time for creating the consumer awareness in the State. My suggestion to the government is to print all important dates that are related to the consumers in next year's calendar and include the birthdays of all elected members to avoid any postponement.
