This is in regards to the recent LPG Gas leak which occurred at the Verna industrial area due to haphazard excavation works carried out by irresponsible contractors.
Such type of digging especially in vulnerable areas should be strictly supervised by a qualified engineer with a blueprint plan of the topography of any particular area where this excavation takes place.
Thanks to the Almighty nothing untoward happened and there were no casualities as a small spark would have ignited the gas causing an explosion in fire creating a catastrophic situation as this area has multiple factories storing explosive chemicals.
There is also heavy movement of traffic day and night to and from all these factories.
Hopefully better sense prevails on the PWD, Electricity Department, GAIL and the others like the different Service providers who just let loose their workers in the field with a JCB , an axe without any supervision damaging pipelines and cables causing extreme inconvenience to the general public due to the blackouts and water shortage.
