Get basics right to attract good tourists

To start with a positive, I would like to state that I am aligned with the tourism minister to promote Goa as a premium destination to attract premium tourists from India and globally.

However this has to be aligned with some basic governance from the Government as done by other countries.

Let’s take Colva for example. Prominent tourist destinations have good, clean transport connectivity. Colva in urgent need of a direct bus service to KTC bus stand.

The beach square and the creek is littered with trash. The beach cleaning contractor is nowhere around as certainly the clean results are not there to see!

The state of benches, walls, steps to the beach (eg. Sernabatim) are in a pathetic state. Why are such basics taking a lot of time and in many cases not being done?  Is it too much to ask the tourism minister and panchayat minister to sit together, clear these bottle necks and have the necessary work done?

A large Tourism Facilitation Centre has been set up spending a lot of tax payers money but the same is just lying there unused!

If Goa needs to attract quality tourists, the government it should get its basics right. This will not only bring in revenue for the State but also benefit all stakeholders from shack owners to taxi operators.
