The Church of England is considering whether to use gender-neutral terms to refer to God. However, the spokesperson of the Church has clarified that there are no plans to "abolish or substantially revise" the existing liturgy.
God created man. God is the creator of man and cannot be called man, inasmuch as the pot can be called the potter. Theologians have discussed the issue of referring to God without assigning a gender but are constrained by limitations of language.
Also Christians of all denominations are unlikely to take kindly to fundamental changes in the way we refer to God. The Lord's Prayer for instance begins with 'Our Father...' Both Lord and Father are masculine gender and central to Christian liturgy. Hence it will be difficult for the Church of England to make any headway on the issue of gender neutral language.
Perhaps it would serve the purpose of this school of thought to call God 'the Creator'. The word Creator in place of Lord or Father ticks all the right boxes as far as language is concerned but not so far as the faith of people is concerned.
Personally I feel it will be impossible for the Church of England to ring in any changes.
