The Chief Minister is making big claims about the growth of Konkani during his term, but the reality on the ground is different. In Goa, Hindi seems to be rising while Konkani is slowly disappearing. I have no issue with Hindi as long as our local language, Konkani, is not being replaced.
Some well-known English medium schools following the National Curriculum are making Hindi compulsory and completely dropping Konkani in the foundation years (Classes 1 to 5). All this is happening under the watch of the BJP government in Goa.
