As per official reports the Indian Govt rejected the new climate finance package of USD 300 billion annually by 2035 for developing nations, deeming it "too little, too distant." India argued that the amount falls short of the USD 1.3 trillion needed annually by 2030 and called the decision-making process unfair. India today is the world's 3rd biggest polluter, specific crony capitalists are given a free hand supported by taxpayers money to destroy forests, trees, hills, maximise fossil fuel usage. Real estate companies particularly the big national ones are busy destroying hills, water bodies, fields, forests, ecosystems, open spaces etc many times by overriding environmental laws, safeguards with support of politicians and ministries. One does not have to go far for examples; just see how Goa and its environment are being rapidly destroyed by these 2 lobbies i.e. coal and real estate. Even safe guards that can reduce the threat of climate change/rising waters i.e. sand dunes, mangroves, beach vegetation are being destroyed at an alarming rate. Whilst of course demanding the rich nations pay up, the Indian administration must also put its own house in order.
