Hike in pay, allowances for MLAs unjustified

The State Cabinet has reportedly approved a big hike in the allowances and other perks of the members of Legislative Assembly. The hike is expected to put an additional burden of Rs 19 crore on State coffers. Well, today most Goans working in all the private sector companies like factories, industries, hotels etc are still seen getting the same old salaries even after working in one place for the last so many years in the state.

Unfortunately, our elected selfish leaders instead of doing something worthwhile about the salaries of such Goans and improving their living conditions in the State are seen going on increasing their own salaries.

I think that if our elected members of the Legislative Assembly want to really work for the welfare of Goans then they should henceforth dare to work for free and should not accept any salaries,  allowances, pensions or any other perks as most of them have already amassed enough wealth for themselves and their future generations over the years to last for a lifetime in Goa.
