This is with reference to the report, "Dust, rain take Mumbai by storm; 9 dead - Goan Everyday - May 14, 2024." I've always cautioned not too play with Nature, for, when Nature strikes it will strike with all its might, and in unpredictable ways. So here we are, the sandstorm that hit Mumbai last evening has taken it's toll -- 9 dead and a lot more injured. The huge billboard seems to be at the centre of this tragedy. Those responsible for this billboard were literally spoiling for a fight with Nature and the consequences are there for all to see. Nevertheless, the blame game goes on. As regards huge posters and banners defacing the country, I've mentioned in the past, that they need to be banned whether legal/authorized whatever. Any small occasion like a birthday of a local politician is good enough for installing huge posters/banners inconveniencing the public, posing a risk to life. So, where do we go from here? Are we any wiser today, are we going to learn any lesson from this tragedy? A poser, both for the authorities as well as the general public. Nature will have its way!
