Listen to voice of people on double-tracking

It is shocking to read that the government who is elected by the people has filed FIRs against leaders of the anti-coal movement in the State.

The government must be surely apprehensive looking at the massive response from the people at Chandor against the double-tracking project. The filing of FIRs is nothing by a move to scare the leaders and muzzle the voice of the people against any opposition to the projects.

During our school days we learnt that India is a democratic country where the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, but today everything has changed.

It is a real shame that the Maina Curtorim police registered the FIR on their own against niz Goenkars who are fighting to save and protect our Goa for Goans future generations.

This is the reason people lose their trust in police. Police are employed to protect the people and not to treat them as murderers and muzzle their voice.

The government is equally responsible in not listening to the voice of the people and being adamant in going ahead with all the destructive projects.

It’s time the government does what is good for the people and for the State so that our Goa can be saved for posterity.
