While the hype in the ongoing FIFA World Cup is centred around Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina captain Lionel Messi, the player who is making waves is the French forward Kylian Mbappe. Having scored 5 goals so far and with France having advanced to the Quarter-finals, Mbappe is a strong contender for the ‘Gold Boot’ award which is presented to the highest goal scorer in the World Cup. Kylian Mbappe plays as a forward for Paris Saint-Germain and the France national team and is considered as one of the best players in the world. He is renowned for his dribbling abilities, exceptional speed, and finishing and made his senior debut for France in 2017, at age 18 and at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Mbappe became the youngest French player to score at a World Cup, and became the second teenager, after Pelé, to score in a World Cup Final. He finished as the joint second-highest goal-scorer as France won the tournament. For his performance he won the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player and French Player of the Year.
